Commending and thanking Alderperson Timothy Bruer for his conscientious service during his tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Timothy Bruer was elected by his peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 22, 2008 for the term 2008-2009; and
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Bruer met weekly with Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and Council President Pro Tem Mark Clear to discuss city issues; and
 
WHEREAS, during his term as Common Council President, Alderperson Bruer also served as chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and served on the Board of Estimates, Community Development Authority, Community Development Block Grant Commission, Housing Merger Planning Ad Hoc Committee, Jeffrey Clay Erlanger Civility in Public Discourse Award Committee and the President's Work Group on Improvements to the Budget Process; and,  
 
WHEREAS, during Alderperson Bruer's tenure as Common Council President he held a variety of discussions and forums for the Common Council which included providing an update to the Council on the status of the 2008-2009 city budget, a forum on poverty issues and emerging needs and a forum on the impact of the current economic climate in Madison; and
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Bruer lead the effort in the creation of the neighborhood indicators pilot project and the exploration of a centralized call center (311); and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Bruer fulfilled his duties as Common Council President with a keen awareness of the future challenges that our city will face and anticipated the need for and the desire of the Council to be an informed legislative body,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Timothy Bruer for his conscientious service during his tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
