Honoring the University of Wisconsin Women's Hockey Team on winning the NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey National Championship.
Body
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin's women's hockey team clinched their third NCAA Division I national title in four years in a 5-0 victory over Mercyhurst on March 22; and
 
WHEREAS, the national championship marked a 33-2-5 season, including a nine-game winning streak; and
 
WHEREAS, the UW women's hockey team completed only its tenth season with its third national title; and
 
WHEREAS, senior Jessie Vetter was named the Frozen Four Most Outstanding Player for the second time, made 37 saves and the most stops in a shutout in UW history, finishing her college career with 39 career shutouts and 91 victories; and
 
WHEREAS, head coach Mark Johnson now has seven Frozen Four wins and is only the second coach to ever win three NCAA championships; and
 
WHEREAS, UW Hockey has fostered an outstanding program for female athletes;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council congratulate the UW Badger women on their NCAA championship and commend the continued success of the UW women's hockey program.
