Amending the Master List of Street Names and Designations and amending the City Engineer’s Street Numbering Map, referred to in Sections 10.34(1) and 10.35, Madison General Ordinances changing the name of Grim Street to Grimm Street. (17th AD)

WHEREAS, the Common Council, by Resolution No. 12,459, adopted March 9, 1967, has established a general policy on street names and approves a master list of existing street names and designations for all purposes; and
WHEREAS, a copy of Resolution No. 12,459 is made part of this resolution; and
WHEREAS, Secs. 10.34(1) and 10.35, Madison General Ordinances, require the City Engineer to maintain certain street numbering maps; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison, a Wisconsin Municipal Corporation executed a Quit Claim Deed of Dedication to the City of Madison for various public streets located within the Airport lands recorded October 16, 1974 as Document No. 1412331 in Volume 538 of Records on Pages 333-352, Dane County Registry; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison executed a Quit Claim Deed to Dane County, a Wisconsin Municipal Corporation, conveying the former Truax Air Base lands that now assembles the existing Dane County Regional Airport; and
WHEREAS, in 1945 street names were selected to honor 35 members of the U. S. Army Air Force who died during World War II; and
WHEREAS, only the following street names remain: Pankratz, Kinsman, Anderson, Swanson, Miller, Hoffman, Straubel, Shaw and Grimm (as well as Mitchell - for General Billy Mitchell, Wright - for Orville and Wilbur Wright and Pierstorff - for Duane Pierstorff, U. S. Airforce, who died of burns in 1958; and
WHEREAS, the Quit Claim Deed public street dedication incorrectly identified and named one of the public streets as Grim Street, which was intended to be named in honor of T/Sgt. Clarence “Bud” Grimm, Jr., son of Clarence & Loretta Grimm, who died on June 4, 1944; and
