Thanking Betty MacDonald for her commitment to Madison Parks and her valuable service to the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Betty MacDonald was first appointed to serve on the Board of Park Commissioners in May 2004 and served as a Park Commissioner until December 2008; and
 
WHEREAS, during her tenure on the Board she also served on the Long Range Planning Committee, the Madison Parks Foundation, and the Ad Hoc Committee on Alcohol and Related Behaviors in Parks; and
 
WHEREAS, most importantly, as a resident overlooking Vilas Park since 1948, Betty has been a faithful steward of and able advocate for Vilas Park; and
 
WHEREAS, Betty MacDonald served on the current Madison Parks Foundation whose mission includes renewing the legacy established over a century ago by the original Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association and building upon that tradition of private citizen participation in preserving Madison's quality of life by supporting initiatives to improve our parks and public spaces; and
 
WHEREAS, current and past members of the Board of Park Commissioners with whom Betty has served describe her as caring, thoughtful, articulate, and deeply committed to the Madison Park system; and
 
WHEREAS, as a life-long Madisonian, Betty's tenure as a Park Commissioner has exemplified the best tradition of civic participation in our city, including civil and thoughtful dialogue as well as a deep commitment to the city and its citizens;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council of the City of Madison thank Betty MacDonald for her commitment to Madison Parks and her valuable service to the City of Madison.
 
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be framed and given to Betty MacDonald in recognition of and commendation for her service to the City.
