WHEREAS, Jim also served as Acting City Attorney in 2003-04; and

WHEREAS, Jim has spent countless hours advising the City and City officials on matters as diverse as gaming, public works, environmental regulations, and intermunicipal agreements; and

WHEREAS, recent intergovernmental agreements with surrounding municipalities such as the Town of Blooming Grove, Burke and Madison, and the Cities and Villages of Middleton, Monona Grove, Sun Prairie and DeForest, all provide for the more orderly development of Dane County and the reduction of turf wars; and

WHEREAS, such agreements would have been impossible without the dedicated work and negotiating skills of Mr. Voss; and

WHEREAS, Jim recently retired from service to the City of Madison on December 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Jim will now be able to spend more time traveling and working outdoors, which he finds much preferable to legal squabbling.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Jim Voss is directed by the City to enjoy his retirement.
