Enactment date: 12/23/2008 Enactment #: ORD-08-00138
Title: Amending Section 3.32(16)(b) of the Madison General Ordinances relating to compensation for employees serving as city election officials.
Sponsors: David J. Cieslewicz
Fiscal Note
This ordinance change would allow City employees serving as election officials to receive their usual pay during normal work hours (usually 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.). The employees would then also receive election official pay during work after normal hours (generally 4:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., or later). This benefit currently applies to represented employees, so the revision would extend the benefit to non-represented employees. This change would not impact the total number of election officials scheduled for work, but may encourage more City employees to volunteer for this duty. Wages and salary for pay during normal work hours would be paid from the employee's own agency, and election official pay after hours would be provided by the Clerk's Office. As both amounts are included in the 2009 Operating Budget, no additional appropriation is necessary.
