Title: Amending Sections 9.31(2) and 9.50(2) of the Madison General Ordinances to increase the fees for cat and dog licenses.

Fiscal Note
The County has notified the City that it will be increasing its retention of dog license revenues by $2.50 per license. This Ordinance will increase the license fee by $5; therefore, the City will retain an additional $2.50 per license, or an estimated annual increase of $25,000 in General Fund revenues. The City retains all of the revenues associated with the cat licenses; an increase of $5 per license is anticipated to generate an estimated $9,000 annually in additional General Fund revenues. These total revenues of $34,000 are not currently included in the 2009 Executive Operating budget.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
1. Subsection (2) of Section 9.31 entitled “Cat License” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
“(2) Every owner of a cat more than five (5) months of age on January 1 of any year, or five (5) months of age within the license year shall annually, or within thirty (...
