Fiscal Note

The budget amendment contained in this Resolution increases the budget authority in the Sequoya Branch Library 2008 Capital Budget (Project No. 4, 810428) by $220,000.  This budget amendment will be funded by private donations.  This resolution also reduces an earlier contingency reserve by $85,695.

Title

Amending the 2008 Library Capital Budget to increase authorized funding by $220,000 for the Sequoya Branch Library capital project.

Body

The Sequoya Branch Library project is currently authorized at $5,724,534 ($4,749,534 of G.O. debt and $975,000 in private contributions).  Expenses for completing construction and equipping the Branch will exceed the authorized budget by $220,000.

WHEREAS, the Madison Public Library has received a $100,000 gift from Madison Gas & Electric for the Sequoya Branch Library; and,

WHEREAS, private contributions for this Branch have exceeded the original target;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Library Sequoya Branch capital budget be amended to increase expenditure authority by $220,000 to be funded through private donations; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the contingency in Contract No. 6148 be reduced by $85,695, with that money being returned to Capital Budget Fund 810428 - Sequoya Branch Library project.
