Title
Approving plans for the restoration of East Campus Mall (FNA North Murray Street) in accordance with the Permit to Excavate in the Right of Way and Agreement to provide maintenance of North Murray Street/East Campus Mall from University Avenue to State Street.
Body
WHEREAS, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System ("University of Wisconsin"), has received permission to install a utility tunnel within the right of way in East Campus Mall from University Avenue to Langdon Street under a Permit to Excavate in the Right of Way which shall require reconstruction of East Campus Mall and;
 
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin has received approval to allow construction of an addition to the Chazen Museum of Art at 750 University Avenue which shall require restoration of East Campus Mall from University Avenue to State Street, and;
 
WHEREAS the University of Wisconsin has entered into an Agreement to provide maintenance of North Murray Street/East Campus Mall from University Avenue to State Street with the City of Madison, and;
 
WHEREAS, staff from Traffic Engineering and City Engineering have reviewed the restoration plans for East Campus Mall  and recommend approval, and;
 
WHEREAS, the University of Wisconsin or their contractor shall take out Permit to Excavate in the Right of Way to complete the construction of the right of way improvements for the restoration of East Campus Mall.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
 
1.      That the plans and specifications for the public improvements necessary for the restoration of East Campus Mall shall be approved under a Permit to Excavate in the Right of Way and in accordance with the plans approved by the City.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED:
 
That the University shall provide maintenance for said right of way improvements in accordance with the Agreement to provide maintenance of North Murray Street/East Campus Mall from University
Avenue to State Street.
