Title: Authorizing the Mayor and the City Clerk to enter into an on-going agreement with the Madison Gas and Electric Company for the purchase of electric service for Metro Transit at One South Ingersoll Street at a discounted rate in exchange for the ability of Madison Gas and Electric to interrupt Metro Transit's electric service. During such interruption, Metro's generator will keep the electrical output level until normal service is resumed.

Fiscal Note
The savings generated through this agreement is 13.151 cents per kilowatt hour.  Average kilowatt usage per day is 315 kW.  In a 30 day billing period, the credit would be $1,242.77.  This savings is included in the Metro Transit operating budget.

Body
WHEREAS Metro Transit and Madison Gas and Electric Company have had a successful agreement allowing Metro's electric service to be interrupted in exchange for a discounted rate; and
 
WHEREAS Metro Transit can rely on back up generator power during an interruption; and
 
WHEREAS both parties wish to continue the agreement;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to enter into an on-going agreement with Madison Gas and Electric Company for the purchase of direct control interruptible electric service for Metro Transit at One South Ingersoll Street at discounted prices reflected in rate schedules Is-2, Cg-2 and STIR, on file with the Public Service Commission.  This will generate an average monthly savings to Metro Transit of $1,242.77.
