Title

Amending Enactment No RES 07-01134 concerning the allocation of CDBG funds for improvements in the South West Neighborhoods.

Body

On December 4, 2007, the Common Council adopted Enactment No RES 07-01134, authorizing the provision of $120,000 in CDBG funds for four neighborhood improvement projects in the South West area, recommended as part of the South West Neighborhood Plan.  At its July 7, 2008 meeting, the CDBG Commission approved a recommendation to amend the original allocation of these capital funds in order to provide for more effective implementation of the approved projects.  While the original total amount of approved funds, $120,000 shall remain the same, the CDBG Commission recommends reallocation of funds within the Neighborhood Plan goal to improve the security of public places, focal points and residences.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the paragraph entitled:

Goal:  Improvement and security of public places, focal points, and residences

is amended and restated as follows:

Community Action Coalition:  up to $27,000 for capital enhancements to Lucy Lincoln community gardens, and for the establishment of up to three new gardens in the area to serve as neighborhood focal points;

City Parks Division:  up to $13,000 for capital improvements to Hammersley Park for pedestrian paths and safety improvements;

Project Home:  up to $10,000 for low interest loans or grants for the properties of income eligible households for security improvements that demonstrate a neighborhood benefits such as exterior lighting, fencing, or landscaping.
