Body
WHEREAS, Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman have dedicated their lives to making the city of Madison a better place; and
 
WHEREAS, the Goodman Brothers are among the leading philanthropists in Madison, reinvesting profits from their locally owned business, Goodman Jewelers,  back into the community; and
 
WHEREAS, while the Goodman Brothers' acts of generosity are too numerous to list here, their central role in funding construction of the Goodman Pool, the first public swimming pool in the city of Madison, stands out as a continued source of pride for our community; and
 
WHEREAS, the Goodman Pool is now preparing to open its gates for its third season of bringing high-quality swimming opportunities to Madison children and adults from all walks of life;
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Saturday, June 14, 2008, this year's opening day for the Goodman Pool, is hereby proclaimed Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Day in the city of Madison in honor of the lasting impact of their generosity for our community.
