Fiscal Note
This grant would fund the overtime pay but not the fringe benefit costs associated with training for the Heavy Urban Rescue Team.  The fringe benefit cost of $24,318 will be absorbed by the Fire Department or requested later in the year after a review of the financial status of the Fire Department.

Body
The State of Wisconsin Office of Justice Assistance  is providing grants for Structural Collapse Training for the development of Specialty Teams. The City of Madison Fire Department is a designated specialty team- Heavy Urban Rescue Team-(HURT).
 
The grant will cover all overtime salaries for training and backfill of positions but not the benefits.  The overtime salaries benefits rate is 22 per cent.The Department hopes to absorb the benefits of $24,318.  Any needed adjustment would be part of our fall review.

NOW THEREFORE BE RESOLVED that the Council approve submission and acceptance of this grant upon award.  
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Fire Department Budget be amended upon award of the  grant by the amounts identified in the above training  budget.
