This amendment adds an additional $60,671 in expenditure authority to the Enterprise GIS capital project with offsetting revenues from the federal government and the City of Sun Praire. There is, therefore, no direct impact on future year tax levies. This amendment impacts the the following accounts:

Body
Background

Information Technology is undertaking a project to bring together the various silos of Geographic Information maintained by various agencies throughout the City. This project provides for continued growth and expansion of the centralized GIS system. A centralized GIS facilitates greater analysis in the areas of public safety and neighborhood issues, and provides more relevant, timely information to prospective businesses. This project provides for additional licenses, software, hardware, and services needed to continue this effort, which in turn will provide mapping capabilities for a wide range of City departments and support the GIS needs of other applications.

Resolution

WHEREAS, the digital ortho imagery portion of the Enterprise GIS project has been completed with total costs paid for from City of Madison promissory note proceeds; and

WHEREAS, the United States Geological Survey and the City of Sun Prairie have since reimbursed the City of Madison for a portion of the total costs of the project; and

WHEREAS, Information Technology plans to use these proceeds to continue the project work;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2008 Information Technology Capital Budget be amended by adding $60,671 in expenditure authority to the Enterprise...
