Body
Preamble

There is a long, positive history of collegiate and club related rowing regattas in the City of Madison that have been held annually on Lake Wingra. The regattas were previously supported and promoted in part by the West Madison Lions Club, and the Wingra Rowing Regatta, Inc. Historically the participants in the rowing regattas included UW Madison Women and Men’s rowing teams, other prestigious, collegiate rowing teams and club affiliated rowing teams including the Mendota Rowing Club and Camp Randall Rowing Club of Madison. Unfortunately the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department has decided to end its participation in the Midwest Rowing Championships.

This year’s event will be hosted by the Camp Randall Rowing Club, Inc., entitled the Wingra Sprints and will be held on April 26, 2008. The event will offer Madison residents an exciting opportunity to view and support the race series.

The Interim Parks Superintendent has given the event sponsor permission to install the course on Lake Wingra (in accordance with M.G.O. 14.30) on April 25 at 4:00 p.m. for purposes of installing the racecourse, buoys, practice area and other regatta related equipment. Following the regatta, all installations will be removed by the end of the day April 26, 2008. In addition to the installation of docks, racecourse, buoys, practice area, judges platform and other equipment, Camp Randall Rowing Club, Inc. its agents and event participants, shall be granted exclusive use of the racecourse and the practice area for the purposes of practice and competitive sessions for the event:
