Funding of $15,000 for the study is included in the 2008 Adopted operating budget of the Economic Development Division/Office of Business Resources. No additional appropriation is required.
Title
Authorizing the City of Madison to issue a Request for Proposals (RFP), and providing that the Mayor and City Clerk may enter into a contract with the selected consultant, for a Northside Market Study.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison desires to promote economic development throughout the Northport Drive, Sherman Avenue, and Packers Avenue commercial corridors; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Madison desires to better understand the market dynamics and local encumbrances of the surrounding neighborhoods, thereby enabling the City to make more informed and market-based land use and policy recommendations; and,
WHEREAS, a Northside Market Study will provide information regarding the current supply, demand, and configuration of a variety of commercial and residential uses, and will provide guidance regarding future opportunities and limitations within these commercial corridors; and,
WHEREAS, this information can be used by the City of Madison Department of Planning & Community & Economic Development and Neighborhood Steering Committee while preparing the Northport - Warner Park - Sherman Neighborhood Plan; and,
WHEREAS, the cost of the Northside Market Study is estimated to be $15,000.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Director of Planning & Community & Economic Development is authorized to issue a request for proposals for a Northside Market Study, and that a City staff team is authorized to select a consultant to prepare said Study, and that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute any and all documents with the selected consultant to perform the services described in this resolution.
