PREAMBLE
City Engineering recognizes the importance of understanding the circulation patterns and residence time within Lake Monona and Monona Bay in order to evaluate future design options and alternatives for improving water quality in Monona Bay.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Lake Planning Grant Program offers financial assistance for planning projects that will improve and protect water quality. City Engineering will apply for this grant in 2008. Should the City of Madison receive a grant for this project, the funds would be used to purchase necessary equipment and other monitoring costs associated with field sampling and computer modeling.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Madison requests $9,600 in funds available from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Lake Planning Grant Program; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Madison will provide up to $3,200 in matching funds.
