WHEREAS the 2008 capital budget includes an amount of $150,000 for architectural and engineering consultant design services for the South Madison Branch Library, an Architect consultant must be hired to design this project; and,

WHEREAS the South Madison Branch Library will expand into larger space within a new building being built as part of the overall redevelopment of The Villager Mall on South Park Street. The City will purchase its space via a condominium structure, including the use of common areas, from the owners of the new building. The City will design and finish the interior improvements to the space including furnishings and equipment, and,

WHEREAS the scope of this project is for professional architectural and engineering design services for interior improvement space. The interior improvement space for this project is approximately 10,000 square feet. The site and building shell will be designed and constructed by a third party developer, and,

WHEREAS the project includes the development and preparation of design, plans and specifications, coordination with the developer’s building architect in insuring overall building design will meet the Library’s needs, preparation of bid documents, assistance in the bid process, and construction administration for the design and construction of interior improvements for the South Madison Branch Library, and,
