2008 Public Health Contracts with the Department of Health and Family Services for the Wisconsin Well Woman Program and Radon Prevention.
Body
WHEREAS Public Health-Madison and Dane County is being asked to execute contracts to effect the receipt of two grants from the State of Wisconsin Division of Public Health, Department of Health and Family Services (“DHFS”): one for Well Woman ($73,065) and the other for support of the regional Radon Prevention program ($11,883);

WHEREAS in previous years these two grants had been received by the Dane County Division of Public Health to support those programs through the County Health department, and beginning with 2008 these are now programs of the merged department (“Public Health-Madison and Dane County” or “PHMDC”);

WHEREAS, the State has awarded these grants directly to PHMDC for 2008;

WHEREAS the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) between the City and County signed on November 20, 2007 requires the merged department to seek City or County approval to accept grants greater that $50,000 that have not been previously approved by both the Common Council and the Board of Supervisors;

WHEREAS these have already been approved by the Board of Supervisors but have not been previously reviewed by Common Council;

WHEREAS the grant funding was included in a lump sum grant figure for state grants receipt of these grants was included in the 2008 Public Health Operating Budget approved by the Common Council and the Board of Supervisors; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County will authorize the Director of PHMDC to sign these two grant contracts;

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health-Madison and Dane County is authorized to enter into an agreemen...
