Grant funds will support the work of the Committee and will be administered by the Mayor's Office. This funding was not included in the 2008 Mayor's Office Adopted Operating budget; therefore, the 2008 Mayor's Office operating budget will need to be amended to recognize the additional $16,188 in revenues, and the commensurate increase in expenditure authority, as follows:

Body
WHEREAS, the Common Council created the Blue Ribbon Committee on Clean Elections ("the Committee") on March 20, 2007 (RES-07-00379) to investigate "full public financing of municipal elections for alderperson, mayor and municipal judge"; and
WHEREAS, the Committee has determined that an essential element of its work is to collect election-related data and research campaign financing systems in other communities; and
WHEREAS, to support this work, the Committee submitted a request to the Joyce Foundation for a one-time grant $16,188, which the Joyce Foundation has approved; and
WHEREAS, the Committee will use the proceeds from this grant for research assistance, travel and printed materials; and
WHEREAS, the results of this research will be reported back to the Common Council and Mayor as part of the Committee's final report; and
WHEREAS, disbursements from the grant will be overseen by the Mayor's Office which staffs the Committee;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Committee is authorized to accept a one-time grant in the amount of $16,188 ...
