PREAMBLE
The City plans to reconstruct Waubesa Street crossing the Union Pacific owned railroad corridor as part of the Waubesa Street Reconstruction Assessment District - 2008 Project. The project will construct a large diameter twin pipe storm sewer crossing under the Union Pacific railroad by open cut method, which requires removal and replacement of existing track and signals by the Operator of the Railroad, Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co.
The Union Pacific Railroad issued a Consent Letter permitting this work on March 23, 2007.
Contractors for Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. will remove and replace the track and signals. Since this work is for the benefit of the street, not the railroad, they are entitled to reimbursement for this work. It is expected to be completed between March 7 and March 11, 2008.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Purchasing Agent is hereby authorized to issue a Purchase Order to Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. to remove and replace track and signals at the Waubesa Street crossing of the railroad tracks owned by Union Pacific Railroad Company.
