SUBSTITUTE - Amending Section 2.01(1) of the Madison General Ordinances to establish Common Council meeting dates for 2008.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS: This ordinance modifies the dates of several regularly-scheduled Common Council meetings in order to accommodate the New Year's Day holiday, the Spring Primary, and the Spring and November Elections. It also establishes dates for consideration and adoption of the 2008 and 2009 Capital and Operating Budgets.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:

Subsection (1) of Section 2.01 entitled "Meetings" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:

"(1) The stated meeting of the Common Council shall be held in the Council Chambers on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 6:30 p.m., except in August and December the Common Council will meet only on the first Tuesday; provided, however, that a meeting shall be scheduled for November 14, 2006 13, 2007 for the purpose of adopting the 2007 2008 Capital and Operating Budgets; that additional meetings to consider the 2007 2008 Capital and Operating Budgets shall be scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2006 14 and 15, 2007, if necessary, each starting at 7:00 p.m.; that the regularly scheduled meeting of January 1, 2008 shall be rescheduled to January 8, 2008; that the regularly scheduled meeting of January 15, 2008 shall be rescheduled to January 22, 2008; that the regularly scheduled meeting of February 20, 2007 19, 2008 shall be rescheduled to February 27, 2007 26, 2008; that the regularly scheduled meeting of April 3, 2007 1, 2008 shall be rescheduled to March 27, 2007 April 8, 2008; that the regularly scheduled meeting of April 15, 2008 shall be rescheduled to April 22, 2008; and that a meeting shall be scheduled for April 17, 2007 at 12:00 noon for the purpose of swearing-in ne...
