Fiscal Note
As in the initial contract, Verona will pay the net cost of service after grant and farebox revenues are applied.  Metro Transit and the City of Madison will pay no portion of the cost of the service.  A proportionate share of the transit system's overhead is charged to the service, which is a benefit to Metro Transit.  No negative impact on budget or cost controls.

Body
WHEREAS Verona commuter service has been very successful for both Metro Transit and the City of Verona; and
 
WHEREAS the original resolution and contract provided for the option to extend service, if mutually agreed, in order to provide adequate time to prepare operating budgets for continuation of service in the following calendar year upon conclusion of the original agreement; and
 
WHEREAS the City of Verona and Metro Transit both wish to continue this service;
 
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the City Clerk are authorized to execute a service agreement with the City of Verona for extension of their commuter bus service with Metro Transit through December 31, 2007.
