Amending Sec. 39.04(2) of the Madison General Ordinances to modify the composition of the Commission on People With Disabilities.

DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance modifies the composition of the Commission On People With Disabilities by eliminating the required cross-membership with the EOC and AAC.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
Subsection (2) entitled "Membership" of Section 39.04 entitled "Commission On People With Disabilities" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows:
"(2)      Membership. The Commission shall consist of thirteen (13) members. Twelve (12) citizen members and one alderperson shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the Common Council.  One member shall also be a member of the Affirmative Action Commission and a different member shall also be a member of the Equal Opportunities Commission.  Citizen members shall be residents of the City of Madison and shall be knowledgeable and sensitive to the service needs, rights, and responsibilities of citizens with disabilities. First priority for membership shall be given to people with disabilities, family members, and advocates."
