The 2007 Operating Budget includes $100,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for Emerging Neighborhoods. This resolution allocates a portion of those funds.
Title
Authorizing the Mayor and Common Council to approve expenditures from the Emerging Neighborhoods fund.
Body
WHEREAS, the 2007 adopted operating budget provides $100,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods fund; and

WHEREAS, the 2007 adopted operating budget appoints a workgroup consisting of staff from the Mayor's Office, Community Services, CDBG, the Common Council President (or designee), and a representative from the neighborhood to recommend to the Mayor and Common Council allocations from the Emerging Neighborhoods fund; and

WHEREAS, the designated workgroup met to develop guidelines and an application process that will be used to allocate a portion of the Emerging Neighborhoods fund; and

WHEREAS, the designated workgroup also made a set of initial allocations from the Emerging Neighborhoods fund.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the workgroup recommends allocating a portion of the 2007 Emerging Funds as follows:

Project Home/Prairie Crossing
Up to $12,800 to continue the resident services counselor position that assists tenants of Prairie Crossing in continuing successful tenancy on the property.

Allied Area Task Force
Up to $10,000 for the Allied Area Task Force to use for career fairs, and other specific initiatives that help to improve the neighborhood or assist in efforts others are conducting to improve the Allied Drive neighborhood.


Allied Drive - Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood Association
Up to $6,800 to the Allied Drive - Dunn's Marsh Neighborhood Association to continue providing a vehicle for residents to become actively involved in creating a better neighborhood for those that live in the Allied Drive - Dunn's Marsh neighborhood.
