Commending Alderperson Austin King for his service as Common Council President during the 2006 -2007 term.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Austin King was elected by his peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 18, 2006 for the term 2006 -2007; and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Austin King met weekly with Mayor Cieslewicz and Council President Pro Tems Paul Skidmore and Paul Van Rooy to discuss city issues; and,
 
WHEREAS, during his term as Common Council President, Alderperson Austin King served as chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and served on the Board of Estimates, Housing Committee, Joint Southeast Campus Area Committee, Landlord and Tenant Issues Subcommittee, Public Safety Review Board and the Regent Street-South Campus Plan Steering Committee; and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Austin King also created and served on the President's Work Group on Council Webpage Redesign, sponsored meetings and briefings on the 2007 Budget and several on the Planning & Development Reorganization; and,
 
WHEREAS, Alderperson Austin King, in addition to the above duties, represented the 8th District with great responsiveness to his constituents' concerns,
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the Common Council commend and thank Alderperson Austin King for his conscientious service during his tenure as President of the Madison Common Council.
