The City of Madison's cost for this project will not exceed $42,342. Funds are available in Account No. CE34-54901-810536 "Enterprise GIS". The scope of this project may be expanded at some point in order to serve the needs of other municipalities, who will reimburse the city. There is no anticipated impact upon cost controls or the tax levy.

Preamble

The goal of this project is to update the City of Madison's existing digital ortho imagery catalog with imagery to be acquired in the spring of 2007 during "leaf-off" conditions. The new imagery will enhance the City's enterprise Geospatial Information System and directly support parcel management, infrastructure and asset management, community and land-use planning, public works construction projects, remote sensing and other GIS applications. The City's Engineering Division, Water Utility, Traffic Engineering, Planning and Development, Police, Fire, Parks, Forestry, Health, Assessor's Office, Attorney's Office, the Dane County District Attorney's Office, and various other agencies, use the City's digital ortho imagery. The City's previous digital ortho imagery projects were done in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2003, and 2005. A Request For Proposals for this project has been issued with a response closing date set for March 12, 2007 and it is anticipated that a vendor will be selected by March 16, 2007.

This project is part of the US Geological Survey/National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency 133 Urban Area Program and the USGS will provide a grant for 25% of the City's costs for this project.
