Title
Authorizing the Mayor and the Chief of Police to accept donated funds for the implementation and maintenance of a Tactical Emergency Medical Support Team that has been created to support the Madison Police Department's Emergency Response Team.
Body
WHEREAS, the Madison Fire Department has created a Tactical Emergency Medical Support Team (TEMS) to provide emergency medical support in the context of police emergencies; and,
WHEREAS, having the proper protective equipment will be necessary to allow the TEMS personnel to work safely and function as members of the Madison Police Department's Emergency Response Team (ERT); and,
WHEREAS, Physician's Plus has recognized the value of increased medical support in saving the lives of citizens and emergency response personnel, and is offering to donate $6,000 toward start-up costs for the equipping of the TEMS Team; and,
WHEREAS, additional donations may be provided in the future to assist with costs associated with the operation of the TEMS Team.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Chief of Police are authorized to accept ongoing donations in support of the TEMS project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these funds be used for supplies, equipment, training or other expenses critical to the effectiveness of this team.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Comptroller and the Police Department are authorized to establish and/or maintain accounts as required for the administration of this project.
