Title
Designating the northeast two acres of the City owned parcel located at 452 South Point Road as the location for Fire Station No. 12. (9th AD)
Body
Preamble

The growth of the westside of the City has reached the point that the addition of a fire station is necessary to serve existing neighborhoods west of USH 12 (Beltline Highway.) Furthermore, the intergovernmental boundary agreement with the Town of Middleton has provided a fixed future service boundary, which facilitates the location of public facilities.

The Fire Chief recommends the location of Fire Station 12 in the vicinity of Mineral Point Road (CTH S) and South Point Road.

The City owns approximately 31.3 acres of land at 452 South Point Road that was acquired for public facilities, including the Far West Public Works Facility. At that site, a salt storage building has been constructed in the southwest corner of the parcel. Water, sewer, and power are available at the site.

The site has excellent solar exposure that would enable the incorporation of energy efficient components into the design of the new fire station.

Actually, a fire station would complement the site, as it would buffer the public works operations from the residential development on the east side of South Point Road (Cardinal Glen Development).

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the northeast two acres of the City owned parcel located at 452 South Point Road as shown on the attached Exhibit, be designated as the location for Fire Station No. 12; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED: that the Engineering Division and Planning and the Department of Planning and Developme...
