Sufficient funds are available in the 2006 Planning & Development Capital Budget, project #2 (Account #810424), to cover the recommended grant amounts that total $97,745, plus $5,000 set aside for design assistance and maintenance reserves, for a total cost of $102,745.

Body
WHEREAS the Neighborhood Grants Program provides funds to neighborhood organizations for activities that promote strong neighborhoods, and includes grants for Community Enhancement projects, Neighborhood Leadership and Capacity-Building activities, and Neighborhood Planning; and

WHEREAS the 2006 Neighborhood Grants Program established a mini-grant component where applicants could request up to $500 with no match requirement and a neighborhood grant component where applicants could request up to $20,000 with a some level of matching funds required; and

WHEREAS twenty mini-grant applications were submitted requesting a total of $9,742, and twelve neighborhood grant applications were submitted requesting a total of $92,750; and

WHEREAS matching funds and in-kind contributions associated with the recommended grants are anticipated to exceed $100,000; and

WHEREAS a Planning Unit Staff Review Team convened to review applications and make recommendations for funding (including conditions to be included in the grant agreements); and

WHEREAS the Planning Unit Staff Review Team recommends ten mini grants totaling $4,995 and twelve neighborhood grants totaling $92,750, for a total budget of $97,745, as well as setting aside $5,000 for maintenance reserve, for a total budget of $102,745, a copy of said recommendations that are attached hereto and made a part hereof.
