DRAFTER'S ANALYSIS:  This ordinance is to provide consistency among all of the ordinances that have changed the age of a juvenile from 14 years old to 12 years old.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
      Subsection (2) of Section 1.10 entitled "Disposition Of And Jurisdiction Over Juveniles Adjudged To Have Violated A Civil Law Or Ordinance" of the Madison General Ordinances is amended to read as follows"
"(2)      In this section:
"Juvenile" means a person who has attained the age of fourteen twelve (1412) years of age but who is less than eighteen (18) years of age,.  eExcept that:
(a)      for purposes of investigating or prosecuting a person who is alleged to have violated a state or federal criminal law or any civil law or municipal ordinance, "juvenile" does not include a person who has attained 17 years of age; and,.
(b)      for purposes of Section 23.45, M.G.O., "juvenile" means a person who has attained the age of twelve (12) years of age but who is less than eighteen (18) years of age."
