This project will be included in the Fire Department's 2007 Capital Budget request.  The total project cost is $312,306, with grant funding of $249,845 and G.O. funding of $62,461 to meet the 20% match requirement.

A grant application has been submitted to the, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), DHS for the Fire Department.  The federal share of this grant if awarded is $249,845 and the City share would be
$62,461.  The City share is 20 per cent of the project cost of $312,306.  
 
The application was submitted for the following items:
 
1.  Fire sprinkler systems for three of our seven fire stations that lack sprinkler systems.  These systems will provide for the protection of Fire personnel health and safety, protect equipment/buildings and citizens when attending meetings and/or voting at fire stations.
 
2.  Five Thermal Imaging Cameras to address the need for a camera on every first-in ladder or engine.  The Department would be fully equipped with cameras   when responding to all emergency incidents.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City accept this grant if awarded.
 
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and other necessary City officials are authorized to execute necessary documents upon award.
