Funds are included in the Fire Department's 2006 Capital Budget as part of Project No. 8 (CB72-58401-810341).
Title
Approval to contract for design and construction administration with Strang, Inc. for the phase 1 project for Fire Station No. 5.
Body
The Fire Department recommends that the City speed up the process for addressing the poor building conditions at Station No. 5. Currently, male and female personnel do not have adequate locker/bathroom facilities and the building does not meet ADA requirements.
The 2006 Fire Department Capital Budget contains $141,200 in funding to begin this project. The Madison Fire Department recommends contracting for these services.
Section 3.61 of the Madison Ordinances allows the City to negotiate consultant services. The Department has preliminary design plans that were prepared by Strang, Inc. It is recommended that the City approve a contract with Strang, Inc. for up to $25,000 for Phase 1.
Now THEREFOR BE IT STILL RESOLVED THAT the City contract with Strang, Inc. for $25,000 for design and construction administration for Phase 1 of the Fire Station No. 5 project.
BE IT STILL FURTHER RESOLVED THAT Mayor and Clerk are authorized to execute the contract.
