Authorizing the Mayor and City Clerk to execute an Agreement with Madison Metropolitan School District-Madison School Community and Recreation for the provision of swimming lessons at the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Community Pool for the 2006 outdoor pool season.
Body
WHEREAS, The City of Madison ("CITY") engaged in a competitive bid process to find an organization to provide swimming lessons and other aquatic programs at the Irwin A. and Robert D. Goodman Community pool ("GOODMAN POOL); and
WHEREAS, as a result of the bid process, Madison Metropolitan School District-Madison School Community and Recreation ("MSCR") was selected to provide swimming and related aquatic programs at the Goodman Pool; and
WHEREAS, an endowment account for scholarships for lessons, swim team, dive team and lifeguard training has been established through the Madison Parks Foundation and the Madison Community Foundation in conjunction with the Madison Public Schools; and
WHEREAS, the Boys and Girls Club will be entitled to the first eighty (80) swim lesson scholarships for the 2006 pool season; and
WHEREAS, City retains the sole right to establish the pool operating schedule including determining whether to open or close the facility due to weather conditions, mechanical conditions affecting user safety, and/or health concerns affecting user safety;
WHEREAS, MSCR will coordinate with the Madison Parks Superintendent or designee in determining which aquatic programs to offer; and
WHEREAS, MSCR will provide all marketing for the aquatic programs and will process all participant registrations and collect all program fees.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute an Agreement with Madison Metropolitan School District-Madison School Community Recreation for the provision of swimming lessons and aquatic programs a...
