Report of the Mayor recommending adoption of the citizen appointment to the Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center Board.

Note: The following appointment was introduced at the September 1, 2009, Common Council meeting (Legislative File ID #15724).  At the September 15, 2009, Common Council meeting, it was referred back to the Mayor's Office.

 

*2/3 vote required for confirmation of non-city residents.

Pursuant to Sec. 3.30(2) of the Madison General Ordinances, “ … provisions of this section shall not necessarily apply with reference to membership on special study committees where in the judgement of the mayor and two-thirds (2/3) of the Common Council, the best interests of the city will be served by the appointment of certain nonresident members who are particularly well qualified by reasons of education, background, and experience … .”

 

MONONA TERRACE COMMUNITY AND CONVENTION CENTER BOARD

 

* SHERIDAN A. GLEN, 407 Clara Ave., #108, Wisconsin Dells, 53965 - reappoint to the remainder of a three-year term to the position of City Appointee.  First appointed 2-2-2004.

 

Rationale: Mr. Glen is a valued member of the Monona Terrace Board who has capably fulfilled his duties for the past five years.  He currently serves as the Chair of the Operations and Marketing Subcommittee. While he no longer resides in the City of Madison, he continues to have an office in downtown Madison and will continue to base his real estate business at First Weber's Capitol office at 222 W. Washington Avenue.  He remains deeply committed to the Board and to the future success of Monona Terrace.
