Authorizing the Parks Superintendent to make recommendations to the Plan Commission on subdivision land dedication requirements for public sites and open spaces pursuant to Madison General Ordinances 16.23(8)f.
Body
Whereas, Madison General Ordinances 16.23(8)f establishes provisions to preserve and provide properly located public sites and open spaces as the community develops; and
Whereas, MGO 16.23(8)f establishes that the Park Commission will make recommendations and comments to Common Council through the Plan Commission regarding land dedication requirements for newly platted subdivisions; and
Whereas, Parks Planning staff have historically provided comments and recommendations directly to the Plan Commission in accordance with the Adopted Parks and Open Space Plan; and
Whereas, the Adopted Parks and Open Space Plan establishes the park and open space needs for the City and corresponding land dedication requirements; and
Whereas, the amount of land dedication required for new residential development is codified by MGO 16.23(8)f; and
Whereas, Parks Planning staff will continue to require land dedications for new subdivisions to promote the goals of the Park and Open Space Plan and provide appropriate park and open space for the proposed development.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Park Commissioners authorizes the Parks Superintendent to provide comments and make recommendations on subdivision land dedication requirements for public sites and open spaces to the Plan Commission and Common Council pursuant to Madison General Ordinance 16.23(8)f.
