The proposed resolution authorizes a non-competitive service contract for replacement of existing diesel tank top pads at Metro Transit. The estimated cost of the contract is $88,572 and will be funded by existing appropriations within Metro Transit’s capital budget under the Equipment and Facility Systems program. No additional appropriation required.

WHEREAS, The fuel tank manways (fuel fills and access covers) have deteriorated over time and have met their end of life. The replacement of said manways will help maintain Metro Transit’s ability to safely and effectively provide diesel fuel to the diesel bus fleet. This work will also replace the associated concrete which has started to deteriorate and create a potential tripping hazard to employees’ health and safety.
WHEREAS, Oil Equipment Company Inc (OEC) specializes in sales, installation, repair and maintenance of petroleum and lubrication equipment.
OEC was the contractor that was awarded this replacement the last time it was needed many years ago. This project is a routine project for OEC as they have intimate knowledge of this specific site’s fuel tanks, underground conduits and monitoring equipment.
WHEREAS, the cost of the materials and services have a quoted amount of $88,571.61
WHEREAS, the project must be conducted between the dates of 6/12/2026-8/1/2026. This date range coincides with the release of Madison Public Schools for summer and will reduce the operational impact of the work being carried out at Metro Transit. During the public school session there are many more buses traveling through the affected area on property.
