Title: Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023-28 Authorization to Accept Funds from Health Care Education & Training for Internet Partner Services Pilot

Title

Board of Health for Madison and Dane County Resolution #2023-28 Authorization to Accept Funds from Health Care Education & Training for Internet Partner Services Pilot

Body

Public Health Madison and Dane County (PHMDC) proposes the acceptance of up to $20,000 from Health Care Education & Training for an Internet Partner Services Pilot.

PHMDC was selected to participate in a pilot project with the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) and Health Care Education & Training (HCET) for the Communicable Disease Program to restart Internet Partner Services, work that was stopped during the COVID response. Internet Partner Services is the process of using internet-based sites and applications (such as social media and dating sites) to contact individuals who have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection (STI). Internet Partner Services is an important tool to curb the spread of STIs, particularly HIV and syphilis. Internet Partner Services will allow communicable disease investigators at PHMDC to contact those exposed to STIs who would otherwise not be reached (such as when a client diagnosed with an STI only has a website username for a sexual partner). Funding will be used to purchase accounts on social media sites and dating applications that will expand access to reach other users on the site. It will also cover any additional technical assistance or training that the Communicable Disease Program needs to launch this work.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Health for Madison and Dane County on behalf of Public Health Madison and Dane County authorizes the Director of Public Health, or their designee, to sign the agreement, accept and expend the funding, and increase the 2023 Public Health Budget by $20,000.
