PREAMBLE
The City has adopted a plan to maintain sidewalk in all areas of the City over a 10 year period which started in 1996. The 10th Aldermanic District (Wards 65,66,67 &68), and 20th Aldermanic District (Wards 84 & 85) are scheduled for repair in 2005 and 2006. The goal to cover the City in 10 years, the Sidewalk Program has stayed on schedule over the first 8 years of the program.
Under this program offset, settled or badly cracked sidewalk sections are replaced with the City and the abutting property owner each paying one half of the cost. In addition ramps are installed at intersections which don't have ramps. The ramps are funded by the City.
The City Engineer plans to award two contracts for the work in 2005.
NOW THEREFOR BE IT RESOLVED that the plans and specifications for the Annual Construction and Reconstruction of Concrete Sidewalk and Incidental Concrete Curb & Gutter Work Ordered by the Common Council be and are hereby approved;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Public Works be and is hereby authorized to advertise for and receive bids for the required public works contracts.
