The 2006 budget includes $125,000 in miscellaneous appropriations for Emerging Neighborhoods. $40,000 of this funding has been allocated to the Transit for Jobs Program and $21,000 for the M.A.P. program.

Requesting the Mayor and Common Council to continue funding for the M.A.P. program and the Transit For Jobs program through the 2007 Emerging Neighborhoods Fund and for the Mayor and City Clerk to enter into Purchase of Service agreements with T.J's. Support Brokerage Firm and Porchlight, Inc. to manage those programs.
Body
WHEREAS, the City of Madison budget has provided $125,000 in Miscellaneous Appropriations for the Emerging Neighborhoods fund for three years; and
WHEREAS, in 2006 the Emerging Neighborhoods fund was used, in part, to support the Madison Apprenticeship Program (MAP) managed by T.J's. Support Brokerage Firm and the Transit For Jobs program managed by Porchlight, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Commission received and reviewed applications from both programs for funding in 2007 and 2008 through the City's Community Resources Program; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Commission understands that programs are eligible for funding from the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund for two years; and
WHEREAS, the Community Services Commission believes both programs are operating effectively and should receive continued City of Madison support based on information provided in their 2007-2008 applications and from service report information.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Community Services Commission recommends the Mayor and Common Council continue funding, at the current level or higher, for both programs through the Emerging Neighborhoods Fund in 2007; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Community Services Commission will consider funding for both programs in 2008 when they are no longer eligible for Emerging Neighborhoods funds; and
