Commending and congratulating Sharon Christensen on being awarded the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association 2005 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Body
WHEREAS, Sharon Christensen has been employed with the City of Madison for 37 years and in 1975 joined the staff of the City Clerk's Office where she progressed to her current position of Deputy City Clerk; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure, Sharon was instrumental in developing the City's business license and voter systems and was an active participant in acquiring the City's voting equipment and the development and implementation of the legislative tracking system; and
WHEREAS, Sharon attended her first Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association (WMCA) annual conference in 1995 and has been active in the association ever since, serving as co-director of WMCA District IV for four years and in 2003 co-chairing the annual conference; and
WHEREAS, the list of accomplishments and professional goals that Sharon has attained is endless, and she has been a role model for the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association as a member and a leader; and
WHEREAS, the Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest award that WMCA can bestow on a member, the purpose of which is to identify and recognize a member who has made significant contributions to the objectives of the municipal clerk's profession, the improvement of municipal government, and the contributions and improvements in the clerk's own community; and
WHEREAS, at the 25th annual conference in August 2005, Sharon Christensen was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and the Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby commend and congratulate Sharon Christensen for her outstanding service to the City of Madison as Deputy City Clerk and for receiving the Wisconsin Municipal Clerks Association Lifetime Achievement Award.
