Proclaiming the week of April 3-9, 2006 as PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK in Madison, Wisconsin.
Body
WHEREAS, Public Health - Madison and Dane County is the official agency of the City of Madison and Dane County responsible for protecting the health and safety of individuals and families across Dane County; and
WHEREAS, we are currently living in uncertain times, with unprecedented concerns about the safety of our food, air, and water; and
WHEREAS, we live under heightened concerns about biological, chemical, and nuclear agents being used against civilian populations; and
WHEREAS, the loyal staff of Public Health - Madison and Dane County, together with dedicated community partners, has the goal of making Madison and Dane County one of the healthiest and safest communities in the nation; and
WHEREAS, the primary mission of Public Health over the past 100 years is the prevention of health problems and response to public health threats; and
WHEREAS, the first week in April of each year is celebrated as National Public Health Week;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Madison, Wisconsin, along with the Madison Common Council, does hereby proclaim April 3-9, 2006 as "PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK" in the City of Madison, and urge all citizens to join us in recognizing the valuable contribution that public health agencies make to our community.
