Amending Section 31.14(2)(e) of the Madison General Ordinances allow Group 2 signs for all allowed nonresidential uses in Group 1.

DRAFTER’S ANALYSIS: The sign code uses groups of zoning districts to organize some of its regulations. There are three groups. This ordinance amendment clarifies that, for non-residential uses in Group 1, the rules for Group 2 will apply when that use is allowed under the zoning code, whether as a conditional use or a permitted use.

The Common Council of the City of Madison do hereby ordain as follows:
1. Subdivision (e) of Subsection (2) entitled “General Requirements for all Signs in Group 1” of Section 31.14 entitled “Regulation of Signs in Group 1 Districts” of the Madison General Ordinances is amended as follows:
“(e) Signs displayed on the zoning lot of any non-residential use allowed as a conditional use in the Conservancy, Agriculture, and Urban Agricultural districts shall follow the provisions of this chapter that apply to the Group 2 districts.”
