Fiscal Note
The proposed resolution authorizes a double-fill of a Deputy Mayor position as needed for the remainder of 2023. The cost will depend on the length of time the position is double-filled and the rate paid to the individual. At the average cost of current Deputy Mayor positions, and assuming the position would be hired effective June 1, the cost would be approximately $92,000 through the end of 2023. This represents 6% of the Mayor’s Office salary and fringe benefit budget for 2023.
City expenses are monitored throughout the year by the Finance Department. If the Mayor’s Office budget cannot absorb the additional expense, a budget amendment may be offered through the year-end appropriation where transfers between agencies to cover small unanticipated deficits are typically handled. No additional appropriation is needed at this time to fund the double-fill.

WHEREAS, the Mayor's Office anticipates multiple vacancies for the remainder of 2023 due to authorized leaves of absence in the Deputy Mayor 2 positions, and
WHEREAS, the Mayor's Office has requested authorization to double-fill one of the Deputy Mayor 2 positions in order to ensure staffing needs are met, and
WHEREAS, the double-fill will exceed thirty (30) days;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor's Office is authorized to double-fill the position of Deputy Mayor 2 (#4791) for the remainder of 2023 as needed.
