Recognizing the support of law enforcement agencies that worked the Halloween event on State Street in Madison from October 28, 2005 through October 30, 2005.
Body
WHEREAS, the Madison Police Department recognizes and appreciates the supporting law enforcement agencies that worked the Halloween event on State Street in Madison from October 28, 2005 through October 30, 2005; and,
 
WHEREAS, those participating agencies provided security to approximately 80,000 people who visited from all over the United States; and,
 
WHEREAS, the plan for the Halloween event was coordinated and executed due to the extreme professionalism shown by law enforcement officers from five agencies; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison hosted a Halloween event for the 28th consecutive year on State Street; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison recognizes the following law enforcement agencies that participated in numerous duties ranging from traffic security to crowd control, to arrest processing: Wisconsin State Patrol, Dane County Sheriff's Office, University of Wisconsin Police, Middleton Police, Capitol Police, and Town of Madison Police; and,
 
WHEREAS, for two consecutive nights these officers followed a comprehensive plan to ensure those attending the event were safe and orderly; and,
 
WHEREAS, the City of Madison realizes the need for additional law enforcement support during the Halloween event; and,
 
WHEREAS, the challenges to the event are complex and rely on sound judgment and patience; and,
 
WHEREAS, this event demonstrates the continued support law enforcement agencies in Dane County continue to provide each other;  
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Madison expresses its sincere appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and cooperation the aforementioned agencies provided in making the 2005 Halloween event successful and safe.
