Recognition of Marilyn J. Bakken, Administrative Secretary II upon her retirement after more than 34 years serving the City of Madison
Body
Whereas, Marilyn J. Bakken began work with the City of Madison on May 17, 1971 in the capacity of Secretary to the Personnel Director; and,
 
Whereas, on June 25, 1979 she accepted the position of Secretary to the Director of Public Works; and,
 
Whereas, she has served as recording secretary for the Board of Public Works since June 25, 1979; and,
 
Whereas, she has administered the prequalification of contractors for public works construction and the licensing of cement masons and asphalt pavers in the right of way; and,
 
Whereas, she has guided contractors through the bidding process with efficiency, fairness, and confidentially thus facilitating the partnership between business and the city for the construction of public works to serve and protect the citizens of the City; and,  
 
Whereas, she has administered the city's graffiti response efforts with a goal of providing an attractive urban environment; and,
 
Whereas, the Board of Public Works has commended her for her service to the Board; and,
 
Whereas, she has accomplished her tasks with industry and enthusiasm and has maintained the highest standards for public service.
 
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Common Council express their appreciation for the dedication and service of Marilyn J. Bakken for more than 34 years of service; and,
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Common Council wish her a healthy and productive retirement.
