Commending Alderperson Brenda Konkel for her service as Common Council President during the 2004 -2005 term.
Body
WHEREAS, Alderperson Brenda Konkel was elected by her peers to the office of President of the Madison Common Council on April 20, 2004 for the term 2004 -2005; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson Brenda Konkel met weekly with Mayor Cieslewicz and Council President Pro Tem Paul Van Rooy to discuss city issues; and,

WHEREAS, during her term as Common Council President, Alderperson Brenda Konkel served as chair of the Common Council Organizational Committee and served on the Alcohol and Other Drugs Policy Committee, E. Washington Avenue Design Oversight Committee, E. Washington/Capitol Gateway BUILD Steering Committee, Board of Estimates, Board of Estimates Subcommittee on TIF, Joint Southeast Campus Area Committee, Long Range Transportation Planning Commission, Plan Commission, State Street Design Project Oversight Committee and the Transit and Parking Commission; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson Brenda Konkel also served on various subcommittees of the CCOC: Council Information Technology Issues, Security Cameras, and the Lobbying Registration subcommittees; and,

WHEREAS, during her tenure, Alderperson Konkel held a series of Neighborhood Public Hearings to gather input from city residents on their experiences with city government, was involved in the implementation of the Legistar legislative tracking software, held discussions on Rafah and streamlined the process for appointing interim alderpersons; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson Brenda Konkel, in addition to the above duties, represented the 2nd District with great responsiveness to her constituents' concerns; and,

WHEREAS, Alderperson Brenda Konkel's tenure as Common Council President was marked by tireless dedication,
