Title
Request from staff to provide Parks Superintendent authority to extend alcohol ban at Elver Park on July 3 and July 5, 2026. (District 20)
Body
Due to incidents during the July 4th holiday weekend over several recent years, staff propose implementing a temporary alcohol ban at Elver Park on Friday, July 3, 2026, and Sunday, July 5, 2026. In 2025, Parks and the Madison Police Department (MPD) collaborated to implement a similar plan to enhance safety. This comprehensive action plan included:

- Increased presence of MPD and Park Rangers
- A ban on alcoholic beverages in the park
- Ensuring compliance with parking ordinances
- Adding barricades at park closing time to prevent further entry
