Title

Informational report on the 2026 American Family Insurance Championship’s at Cherokee Marsh Park - North Unit. (Citywide)

Body

From June 1, 2026 through June 7, 2026 the Steve Stricker Foundation utilized the parking lots and driveway of Cherokee Marsh Park - North Unit to support the American Family Insurance PGA Championship golf event which was held at TPC Wisconsin, neighboring the park. The event required substantial coordination between the event organizers and various agencies in the City of Madison due to its draw of thousands of people to the event, and its impact on the traffic, neighborhood, and park. For the duration of the event, only pedestrians and bicycles were allowed to enter the park via Sherman Avenue. This past year, vehicular park access was provided in the evenings during the week.

During the event in 2026, the event organizers followed the guidelines outlined in the agreement. The event organizers were communicative with Parks staff, including Rangers, and helped coordinate quick changes when vendors and employees misunderstood the boundaries of the driveway.

The event organizers have indicated that the event will not return to TPC Wisconsin next year and therefore will not need to extend the agreement through 2027.

The attached slides provide information from the Steve Stricker American Family Insurance Foundation regarding the details of the event.
