Fiscal Note
This resolution appoints the current Fire Marshal to serve as the Coordinator of Emergency Management in addition to performing his current duties. Any change in classification or salary that may be recommended as a result of that appointment will require separate authorization by the Common Council.
Title
Appointing Edwin Ruckriegel to serve as Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Madison.
Body
WHEREAS, Section 166.03(4) of the Wisconsin Statutes requires that the governing body of each municipality shall adopt an effective program of emergency management consistent with the state plan of emergency management and shall appoint a head of emergency management services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Madison has amended Section 3.21 of the Madison General Ordinances to provide for an Emergency Management Coordinator to fulfill the responsibilities of head of Emergency Management services as required by the Wisconsin Statutes; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor recommends that Edwin Ruckriegel be appointed to serve as Emergency Management Coordinator, while continuing to occupy his position as Fire Marshall; and
WHEREAS, Edwin Ruckriegel shall serve in such position and fulfill said responsibilities at the pleasure of the Mayor who may in his/her discretion reassign said duties at any time subject to approval of the Common Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Edwin Ruckriegel be and hereby is appointed to serve as and assume and perform the duties of Emergency Management Coordinator of the City of Madison.
